I just watched Leap Year the other day. You know that movie that came out last year? About the girl (Amy Adams) who goes to Ireland to propose marriage to her BF on leap day? Along the way she meets this Irish guy, Declan (the super HOT Matthew Goode!), who owns a pub and is on the verge of losing the pub and his whole livelihood. He asks her at one part in the movie that if she had 60 seconds to get out of her burning house, what would she take. I love that scene. I can’t find it on You Tube, otherwise, I would totally post it for you. But anyway, toward the end of the movie she pulls the fire alarm in her beautiful apartment and you see that her BF takes all the electronics stuff…laptop, cameras, ipod, etc. I often love this scene because it truly shows what some people’s treasures are. Treasures on earth will pass away. Matthew 6:19-20 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” What we store up here doesn’t matter, but the things we treasure in our hearts do.
So, for this day’s photo post, I’m going to put a picture of me and my mom. It’s our relationship that I treasure the most. My mama is my best friend and my confidante. I call her multiple times a day just to say hello and be random and she puts up with it! Most days, anyway. God has certainly blessed me with an amazing mother and I am so thankful for her in my life. So she is my most treasured item. I don’t think I really have a physical item that would really bother me that much if it were destroyed. I mean, sure I’d be devastated if I lost my house, but it’s just a house. I’d miss my phone and my ipod, but oh well. They’re just things. They can be replaced. Family, people, relationships, experiences…those are the items we should be treasuring and cherishing in our hearts.
So may you treasure the ones you love, may you tell them over and over and over again just how much you love them, and may your eyes and heart be open to how the God of all creation treasures you above all else.

30 day photo thingy was fun. i did it on my blog too!
